MURPHYS CREEK COMMUNITY SPORTS CENTRE

Public BBQ

Murphys Creek Community Sports Centre has permanently closed its doors, which is a genuine shame for families in the area - honestly, losing community BBQ facilities like this is becoming an all-too-common story across regional Queensland. When operational, this type of community sports centre typically offered the essentials that made for decent family outings: barbecue facilities positioned near children's play equipment, public toilets within reasonable walking distance, and the kind of unpretentious atmosphere where you could arrive with a esky full of snags and leave the kids to burn off energy while the adults sorted lunch. These community-focused venues were never about fancy amenities, but rather providing practical outdoor spaces where locals could gather without breaking the bank. The closure represents another loss for Murphys Creek's community infrastructure.
